Football Talent!
23rd Mar 2022We are extremely proud of the sporting success’ of student Bethany!
Last weekend Bethany and her teammates celebrated two amazing successes.
Her Kent team beat Essex 3 - 2 and now face Lancashire and Middlesex in two very difficult finals.
The second success for Bethany and her London City Lionesses (LCL) team mates was winning against QPR 2-0! Amazing achievements.
Bethany started playing football at Sibertswold primary school in year four. Her talent was soon picked up and she was invited to trial as a goalkeeper for Gillingham Girls RTC (Regional Talent Club) which was a pathway to England.
Since then she has played for various clubs and currently she is with the London City Lionesses and the Kent Schools FA as their Goalkeeper.
These clubs compete at a very high level. The Lionesses are in the Junior Premier League
where they compete against fantastic teams like West Ham and Tottenham Hotspurs.
Kent Schools FA are a well-established county side for both girls and boys. Recently celebrating 100 years. This is close to Bethany’s heart as she plays in the same number 7 shirt as her Great Grandad did!
Bethany has a very strict training regime to be able to keep strong, fit and focussed.
She trains twice a week with LCL and weekly with Goalkeeper coach Matt Burt who is the Lady’s First team coach and has an independent goalkeeping academy.
Her 4th session of the week focusses on strength and skills with Peter Sykes Coaching. They have worked together for many years and have developed a great bond and share the ups and downs of football. Bethany was honoured that Peter became her Kit Sponsor for Kent.
Bethany has volunteered for Peter and his JPS academy as she would love to earn her coaching badges in the future.
Bethany’s proudest football moment was trialling for Chelsea FC. Where she played with many England players.
Well done Bethany, we will continue to follow your success and wish you luck with your forthcoming games
Keep following those dreams Bethany!
