French is taught to all girls in Year 7, 8 & 9 for 2 periods a week
For GCSE girls study the WJEC course. It aims to test how well candidates could cope as a tourist or guest in France. All examination tasks are set in authentic situations they might encounter. They take four examinations : all skills Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing weigh 25% each of the final grade.
At AS and A2 Level, the girls study the Edexcel course. There are three units to complete at the end of the second year.
There are numerous trips to support learning across the key stages which include: a day trip for year 7 and 8 to Boulogne, a Year 9 and 10 three-day exchange to a college in Eu. A level students have the opportunity to take part in an exchange with the Lycee Louis Pasteur in Henin-Beaumont. We also celebrate the European day of Languages in September with activities run by the sixth form for younger students at Whitfield and Aspen primary school.
