Dover Grammar School for Girls Headteacher Matthew Bartlett formally launched the school’s new single scull at the Dover Sea Sports Centre on Sunday. The Filia Dubris (Daughter of Dover) is one of two boats provided by the school for the benefit of girls who row. Both were funded by a generous legacy from the late Ellen Growcock, a former teacher at the school. Rowing is a key sport at the school, and girls train both on dry land at the school but also on the sea from the Sea Sports Centre. The school’s other boat, a quad, will see its first journey across the Channel this week subject to weather of course!
