There are always a number of different charities which benefit from students’ fund raising endeavours. It is particularly pleasing to see that last year (2011/12) we managed to increase our charitable giving despite the economy being so fragile and our locality being so beset by economic issues. We managed a spectacular £10000. So far in 2012/13, we have raised £6000. This includes some £2910 from our legendary Christmas Market and over £700 from a Winter Ball organised by our VI Form students. Our PFA assists with the fund raising having already raised some £1500 in 2012/13 and almost £4000 in 2011/12. Many of the events that end up being fund raising events, are in fact far more significant in binding together our community in a shared endeavour. We try to facilitate our students to care for their neighbours by practical action as well as fundraising. To this end, over 60 students spend Wednesday afternoon helping in a unit for profoundly handicapped young people. Others work in schools, as Sports Leaders and in community volunteering.
